Grease that is generated from cooking is exhausted to ventilators / exhaust fans typically located on a rooftop. When ventilators/exhaust fans build up with cooking fats, oil and grease (FOG), the FOG spills onto the roof and into storm water drains. This is how the grease pollution gets into storm water systems. These hazards are contaminating and polluting brooks, rivers, ponds, reservoirs, lakes and even the water we drink.
Who Requires That You Keep Grease Off Of Rooftops?
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Health Department, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), OSHA, Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW's), the National Pollution Discharge Eliminations Systems (NPDES), Insurance Underwriters, Roofing Manufacturers and the list goes on. It is the law to be in compliance with State and Federal requirements.
RoofingSource has a full line of grease containment solutions plus a full service plan to help our clients manage this process.
