Meet the friendly faces of our nationwide team! Some of these individuals started with little to no experience or knowledge of commercial roofing. However, throughout their time at RoofingSource, they have grown an immense amount and have advanced careers in ways they probably didn’t imagine.

Ben Burdick 
Current Role
: Training Coordinator Started as: Field Advisor

Ben joined RoofingSource over five years ago and has become an integral member of our team. Ben is originally from the Denver area and has lived in many places including New Zealand. He started at RoofingSource with zero experience in commercial roofing and has now become our Training Coordinator.

What have you learned throughout your experience of working with RoofingSource?

Before beginning as a Field Advisor, I had never been on a commercial roof. Through training and experience I learned the understanding of different roof types and their traits. The success in the office environment is the same as installing roofs; the key lies not only in hard work, but attention to the small details. 

How would you define RoofingSource's working culture? 

RoofingSource is a machine. Every part is constantly moving in conjunction towards the same goal. I feel a great sense of pride to be an integral piece of something so big. It's also refreshing having a team built around you for support. 

Is there anything you would like future RoofingSource job candidates to know?

You get what you give and this [RoofingSource] is a team who is supportive and works together to not only grow the company, but experience growth in ourselves. I’ve had several jobs in my life, and this is not the first time I have felt like my hard work has been noticed, but it’s the first time I’ve felt rewarded from it.

Sam Koutnik 
Current Role
: Marketing Coordinator Started as: Marketing/HR intern

Sam graduated with a degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of Dayton in 2021. She began working with the RoofingSource team in 2019 as a Marketing/HR intern and is now our Marketing Coordinator. In her free time, Sam enjoys traveling and studied abroad in Spain during her Junior year of college.

What have you learned throughout your experience of working with RoofingSource?

I joined the RoofingSource team as an intern when I was a sophomore in college and didn’t know anything about roofing or working in an office atmosphere. Since beginning in that position a little over two years ago, I can say I haven’t stopped learning and have received more training and knowledge than I ever expected. RoofingSource puts their employees in the position to grow and succeed by providing adequate training and fostering an upbeat and encouraging atmosphere. I’m happy to say that I’ll be continuing my growth with RoofingSource and can’t wait to see what the future holds. 

How would you define RoofingSource's working culture? 

I would describe the working culture as very cohesive and relaxed. Don’t be fooled, this relaxed atmosphere comes with hard work and appreciation for your other co-workers. Everyone in the office is pretty tight knit and you can expect a few company outings and barbecues throughout the year!

Is there anything you would like future RoofingSource job candidates to know?

It’s important to know that if you work hard it will pay off. It’s cheesy to say but it’s really true. If you show potential and give 100% you will have an immense amount of opportunities within the company. RoofingSource hires individuals who show drive because they want to help get them to the next step in their careers.

Deima Bagdonaviciute
Current Role:
Accounting Associate 

Deima graduated from Lewis University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and has been a part of the RoofingSource team for over 2 years. She originally is from Lithuania but now lives in Mount Prospect. She is a part of our Finance team and you can always find her with a smile on her face!

What have you learned throughout your experience of working with RoofingSource?: There are too many things I've learned to list them all out but I think the main takeaways would be better communication skills and mental math skills. I was never on the front end of speaking with customers in any other job I've had before and in this position, my communication skills have really flourished because I am on the phone with customers frequently. Before I started this position my mental math was not great and I used a calculator for the simplest of addition and subtraction problems. Now that I use simple math day in and day out, I’ve learned how to do most of it in my head which is a lot quicker than pulling out the calculator each time.

How would you define RoofingSource's working culture? 

I would define RoofingSource's work culture as friendly and supportive. I know that my team members would help me at the drop of a hat and I would do the same for them. I really enjoy working with all of my team members. They are lovely people.

Is there anything you would like future RoofingSource job candidates to know?

I would like future RoofingSource candidates to know that this company is great if you are looking for growth or to advance your skills and experience.

Dale Donoho
Current Role
: Field Supervisor Started as: Field Advisor

Dale is from Lebanon, TN and grew up working in the tobacco fields. Later on in his career he decided to attend nursing school and work in the emergency room. Soon after that he decided he wanted a career change and that’s when he found RoofingSource. In his free time, he likes to spend time with family, travel, and explore new spots to hike in national parks.

What have you learned throughout your experience of working with RoofingSource?

I’ve learned so much. I started here with 0 roofing experience and now I have experienced nearly every roofing type and feel confident I can find a solution no matter the roof. This company took me in and unlocked a passion I never knew I had.

How would you define RoofingSource's working culture?

RoofingSource motivates their employees to uplift others as a team with a positive mindset and consideration. Everyone, no matter the position, strives to uphold the company's mantra of "Maintaining Excellence" and providing the best customer experience possible.

Is there anything you would like future RoofingSource job candidates to know?

With the right attitude and a good work ethic, the sky really is the the limit with RoofingSource. This isn't your normal roofing company. I truly believe RoofingSource's approach is the future of roofing.

 

Brandon Reed
Current Role
: Director of HR/People Started as: Dispatcher

Born and raised in Chicago, Brandon R. started out as a Dispatcher and now is our Human Development Manager. He currently is going back to school to finish up his bachelor’s degree and obtain his HR and SHRM certificate while working full time. In his free time, Brandon enjoys hanging out with his fiancé and his dog Rainey.

What have you learned throughout your experience of working with RoofingSource?

Comfort zones are tombs. I've learned (and continue to learn) to adapt and evolve on my feet to meet challenges head-on. The biggest and best thing I've taken away from my career here is to keep pushing, keep learning, and keep contributing.

How would you define RoofingSource's working culture?

Our culture feels is tied to our origins in that one person can do something spectacular - and by that I mean it is a culture where ideas, innovation, and improvement are fostered and encouraged at every opportunity from technology on down to paid holiday policies. It is equally demanding and rewarding - best summarized by a quote by one of my favorite historical figures, the bull moose himself, Teddy Roosevelt: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
